Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

StatRead ("StatRead", "we", "us") provides a subscription web application offering statistical analysis of AFL matches, players, and teams. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is stored and protected. StatRead is an Australian product and this policy is written with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in mind.

2. What we collect

  • Account information: the email address you sign up with, and an encrypted password (or, if you use Google sign-in, the identifier Google provides — we never see your Google password).
  • Product preferences: your favourite AFL team, if you choose to tell us, so we can personalise what we show you.
  • Billing information: subscription and payment details are collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We store a Stripe customer/subscription reference and status (e.g. trialing, active, cancelled) — we do not store your full card number.
  • Usage / analytics data: basic product analytics (e.g. which pages and features are used) to help us understand and improve the product.
  • Transactional email: emails we send you (e.g. confirmations, receipts, password resets) are delivered via our email provider, Resend.

3. How we use it

We use your personal information only to:

  • Create and secure your account, and let you sign in.
  • Process and manage your subscription and billing via Stripe.
  • Send transactional emails (confirmations, receipts, account and security notices, password resets).
  • Personalise the product experience (e.g. surfacing stats for your favourite team).
  • Understand product usage so we can fix issues and improve StatRead.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.

4. Where your data is stored

Account and product data is stored with Supabase, hosted in the Sydney (Australia) region. The application itself is hosted on Vercel. Billing data is held by Stripe, and transactional email is sent via Resend — both process a limited set of your information (e.g. email address, billing details) solely to provide their respective service to us on your behalf. Some of these providers may process data outside Australia as part of their global infrastructure; where that happens, we rely on their own privacy and security commitments and only share what is necessary for them to perform their function.

5. Statistical analysis, not betting advice

StatRead provides statistical modelling and historical analysis of AFL matches for information and entertainment purposes only. StatRead is not betting advice and we do not offer, facilitate, or promote any wagering service. Nothing on StatRead should be treated as a recommendation to place a bet or wager of any kind.

6. Cookies and similar technology

We use essential cookies/local storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences, and limited analytics technology to understand product usage. We do not use these technologies to build advertising profiles or sell data to third parties.

7. Your rights and choices

You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and you can withdraw any consent you've given (for example, consent to receive non-essential communications) at any time. To do any of this, contact support@statread.com.au. You can also close your account at any time from the Account page in the app. Note that some information (e.g. billing records) may need to be retained for a period to meet our legal and accounting obligations even after account closure.

8. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls on our database, and relying on reputable, security-audited providers (Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Vercel) for the infrastructure underpinning StatRead.

9. Age requirement

Paid StatRead subscriptions are only available to people aged 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
