Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

StatRead ("StatRead", "we", "us") — operated under the registered Australian business name STATREAD (ABN 21 902 135 001) — provides a subscription web application offering statistical analysis of AFL and NRL matches, players, and teams. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is stored and protected. StatRead is an Australian product and we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. What we collect

• Account information:the email address you sign up with and an encrypted password. If you sign in through a third-party provider such as Google (where offered), we receive the identifier that provider shares — we never see that provider's password.
• Product preferences:your favourite team, if you choose to tell us, so we can personalise what we show you. Before you create an account this is kept only in your browser's local storage; after you sign up it's saved to your account.
• Billing information: subscription and payment details are collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We store a Stripe customer/subscription reference and status (e.g. trialing, active, cancelled) — we do not store your full card number.
• Technical data: when you use StatRead, our infrastructure automatically records standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested). We use these for security, rate limiting, and troubleshooting — not for advertising.
• Support correspondence: if you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can help you and improve support.

We do not collect sensitive information, and we do not currently use any third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If we introduce product analytics later, we'll update this policy first.

3. How we use it

We use your personal information only to:

• Create and secure your account, and let you sign in.
• Process and manage your subscription and billing via Stripe.
• Send service emails — sign-up confirmations and password resets are sent through our authentication provider (Supabase), and billing receipts come from Stripe.
• Personalise the product experience (e.g. surfacing stats for your favourite team).
• Keep the Service secure (e.g. rate limiting, detecting misuse).
• Respond to your questions and support requests.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever. We only send service-related email today; if we ever introduce marketing email, it will include a working unsubscribe link and comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

4. Where your data is stored and who we share it with

Account and product data is stored with Supabase, hosted in the Sydney (Australia) region. The application itself is hosted on Vercel, and billing data is held by Stripe — both are US-headquartered providers that may process a limited set of your information (e.g. email address, billing details, request logs) outside Australia, mainly in the United States, as part of their global infrastructure. We only share what is necessary for each provider to perform its function, and we take reasonable steps, consistent with APP 8, to ensure they handle your information in line with Australian privacy standards.

Beyond those providers, we only disclose personal information if the law requires it (for example, a lawful request from a regulator or law enforcement), or as part of a genuine restructure or sale of the business — in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

5. Statistical analysis, not betting advice

StatRead provides statistical modelling and historical analysis of AFL and NRL matches for information and entertainment purposes only. StatRead is not betting advice and we do not offer, facilitate, or promote any wagering service. Nothing on StatRead should be treated as a recommendation to place a bet or wager of any kind. 6. Cookies and similar technology

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in securely, and your browser's local storage to remember basic preferences (like your favourite team). We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently use analytics cookies or build advertising profiles. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep your account information while your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 12 months, except records we're required to keep longer — for example, billing and transaction records retained for up to 7 years to meet Australian tax and accounting obligations.

8. Your rights and choices

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you can withdraw any consent you've given, at any time — including closing your account. To do any of this, email support@statread.com.au (or use the button below) and we'll action it promptly — normally within 30 days. Note that some information (e.g. billing records) may need to be retained for a period to meet our legal and accounting obligations even after account closure (see section 7).

If you believe we've mishandled your personal information, please contact us first and we'll do our best to put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

9. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls on our database, and relying on reputable, security-audited providers (Supabase, Stripe, Vercel) for the infrastructure underpinning StatRead. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but if a data breach ever occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the OAIC in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. Age requirement

StatRead is intended for people aged 18 years or older, and paid subscriptions are only available to people aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where reasonably practicable we'll let you know.
